AwesomenessTV is an online-media company owned by DreamWorks Animation. Why are they important? Well in my opinion it’s because companies like them are the future of the film industry. Today stars are born within 6 seconds on Vine or with 140 characters on Twitter. AwesomenessTV creates videos and films that showcase these new stars and target their fan groups. They were the company behind Cameron Dallas’s Expelled film which generated the most buzz on the internet. In Rentrak’s rankings of the year’s most social movie Expelled earned 3.88 million mentions online beating out The Fault in Our Stars, which came in second. With the use of PreAact, Rentrak can track the social media conversation on a particular film, which can help to decide when would be the best time to release a film or in what city roll out the film in.
